Carmine Appice, Educator and Rock Drumming Legend!

Carmine Appice is a Rock Drumming legend whose best known for his work Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, the power trio Beck, Bogert & Appice, Ozzy Osbourne, Blue Murder and Lesile West. He’s also known as an educator whose influence a whole generation of drummers! Appice is credited with influencing several drummers including Nicko McBrain; Aerosmith’s Joey Kramer; Roger Taylor of Queen; Phil Collins; Rush’s Neil Peart; Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee; Dave Lombardo; Richard Christy; Chris Grainger;[1] David Kinkade; Ray Mehlbaum; Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham; Eric Singer and myself. He’s published several books and videos on instruction. He’s best-selling drum instruction book The Realistic Rock Drum Method was first published in 1972, and has since been revised and republished as The Ultimate Realistic Rock Drum Method.

I had the pleasure of taking some master classes with Carmine in my teens. Awesome classes where he was the first to introduce me to the idea of Linear Drumming. Linear drumming is the concept that no two limbs overlap and play at the same time. He made learning fun, interesting and practical! Thank you Carmine!
